Wired has the right idea

That’s a link to a wired article about a Cal Poly Supermileage car for the dedicated purpose of winning the shell eco-marathon. The idea is tried and true, e.g. take a really light car, give it a small & light engine, make it essentially float along and it should go for miles.
Of course 2,752 miles feels like its on the ridiculous side of things, certainly beats my car by nearly two factors of ten. I don’t know about those of you reading this but I find this rather awesome. What with budgetary restraints of college students, current technology and any number of other factors, rather striking overall. One other point of clarification, this thing runs on regular old gasoline, no solar panels, just carbon fiber and a nice little 3 hp engine.
I figure this is a nice topic to start posting again, hopefully my schedule will keep up and I’ll get in a few nice joke phrases like that last one.
