I’m sure everyone has heard the argument “don’t get a tattoo, you’ll regret it when you’re older.” I know this argument has failed to convince a whole host of people but some people have been swayed by this line of thought. Not to worry, Phillips has your back, almost literally. At the very least they may be using you as a walking billboard.
Now that you’ve seen that rather creepy video you probably understand where I’m coming from a bit more.
The way Phillips manages to achieve this is by embedding a silk substrate riddled with LEDs under your skin. The silk dissolves away after a couple months leaving behind the electronic assembly.
I don’t know how many of you have read Neuromancer but if you’ve watched the Matrix, then you basically MUST read Neuromancer. In essence, this future world has seen the dawn of technological add-ons into human beings, and this was just one of the many ideas along with extra RAM for your brain and muscle grafts.
One of the nice things about this technology is that it means you don’t have to be constantly displaying the tattoo you have chosen to imprint on your body.
Not a whole lot witty to say here, seeing as how my mind is still tripping over the idea. However, I will say that this will allow for the awkward moment when your parents find out you have a tattoo to completely disappear.
